Amazon’s Appstore for Android is now available in India too

Amazon has expanded one of its most popular offerings ‘Appstore for Android’ to around 200 countries across the world including the likes of India, Australia, Mexico and Brazil too. Last month Amazon announced that it will undergo a vast expansion, and now it has finally completed it.

The ‘Appstore for Android’ is already available in UK, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and France. This latest global expansion is just increasing its availability, as it has already proved its credibility, and received appreciations from its users.

Amazon has updated the Appstore for Android to version 5.0, the most advanced one. You can easily download Appstore on your own Android device after enabling 'installation of apps from unknown sources' settings.

The world famous company decided to celebrate this launch. For that it is bringing back the Free Apps of the Day offer. The users will be able to download "Fruit Ninja’ on May 23, and “Cut the Rope: Experiments” on May 24 for free.

There are some added benefits too that Amazon is offering on its Appstore for its users. It is giving away special discounts on various popular games from successful brands like Sega, Ubisoft and Rovio. Even one of the most popular apps ‘Angry Birds Space’ too can be downloaded for free of cost till June 3 of this year.

Mike George, who is the Vice President of Apps and Games at Amazon, exclaimed his joy while announcing these expansions and freebies offers. He quoted, “We are thrilled to be expanding the reach of our global app distribution to nearly 200 countries. By further expanding the distribution of apps to millions of customers around the world, we are continuing to make it easy for customers to enjoy their Amazon apps on Kindle Fire and any Android device."

Amazon Appstore is an alternative to Google Play, which has the back up of the big G itself. As Google owns the patent of the Android OS, the Google Play store comes pre-loaded with most of the android devices. Users are allowed to download whichever apps they like just with a single click. Google also provides its full support to users to settle the payment procedures in app purchases, and each day it also offers a free app for its loyal consumers.

Currently a user can easily create a new account through the app of their own android devices, and download as many free apps as they want. They don’t have to enter their credit card details to do that, though that information will be necessary to download paid apps from the store. If you want to add your credit card details to your account, then you must login to your account via a browser, and follow the instructions.

Amazon also declared that by June 13 ‘Kindle Fire’ will be available in more than 170 countries, and currently it is available for pre-order. But sadly no luck for Indians, as Amazon has mentioned that it won’t be able to deliver the tablets to India.

In April for the first time Amazon made it clear that it will expand the reach of its own Appstore globally. It also encouraged all the developers around the globe to submit their apps for distribution purposes in the new markets, where Amazon is planning to roll out its Appstore. It had clearly mentioned that registered developers, who wanted international distribution facilities, would have to make their apps automatically available for download, unless they might designate otherwise.

Is the Amazon Appstore ideal alternative to Google Play Store? What’s your view? Have your tried the both yet? We would love to hear about it from your side, so please feel free to comment below.
